Mr. Capitelli graduated cum laude in 2008 from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he was selected for the Chancellor’s List and received the CALI Award for Legal Research and Writing and for Corporate and White Collar Criminal Law. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Capitelli received his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from Louisiana State University, where he majored in English Literature. At Louisiana State University, he was inducted into the Foreaux Society and was selected as a University Medalist.

Mr. Capitelli was selected for the Louisiana State Bar Association’s 2013-2014 Leadership Class, and he received a Certificate of Recognition for his work with the Leadership Class. Mr. Capitelli was voted as the Northshore’s Best Attorney for 2012 by Sophisticated Woman magazine, and he was selected as the recipient of the Louisiana Appleseed Good Apple Award in 2010. In 2017, Mr. Capitelli was again honored with the Louisiana Appleseed Good Apple Award, and he is the first double recipient of the award. Mr. Capitelli currently serves as Revisions Editor of the Louisiana State Bar Association Emergency Disaster Training Manual, a position he has held since 2009.

Mr. Capitelli also currently serves as an adjunct professor at the University of New Orleans, where he teaches Healthcare Ethics, Law and Policy to students in the Healthcare Management Program.

Mr. Capitelli was raised on the Northshore, and attended St. Paul’s School in Covington, Louisiana. He currently resides in Mandeville, Louisiana with his wife, Lesley, daughter, Avaley, and twins, August and Anabelle.

PRACTICE & ADMISSIONS:

Mr. Capitelli maintains a diverse practice encompassing transactional, administrative, and regulatory work, and litigation, including commercial litigation, health care, medical malpractice defense and insurance coverage and defense. He also assists clients with employment agreements, management agreements, sales and leasing, and he represents healthcare providers in practice-related litigation. He serves as general counsel for a wide range of business entities and individuals, and in this role he provides compliance, transactional and regulatory advice.

In commercial litigation and transactional work–

  • He reviews and prepares corporate and regulatory documents for all stages of a corporate entity, including creation, governance, conversion, sale, merger, and liquidation.
  • He provides compliance advice and counsel.
  • He litigates corporate and regulatory disputes.

In insurance defense matters–

  • He provides timely, sound counsel regarding the strengths, weaknesses, and potential resolution of disputes.
  • He strongly advocates for both the insured and insurer, while litigating in a professional, efficient manner.
  • He reviews policies and assists in coverage determinations.

In healthcare matters–

  • He defends physicians in medical malpractice claims, and he represents physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other practitioners in matters before regulatory boards.
  • He assists clients in all manner of provider services, including contracting, sales, leasing, and other transactions.
  • He offers guidance to providers on issues related to compliance, fraud and abuse.
  • He provides counsel on insurance coverage issues.

In domestic matters–

  • He prepares estate planning documents, including testaments, and represents clients in succession proceedings.
  • He prepares tutorship documents and represents clients in tutorship proceedings.

In local government matters–

  • He assists clients with their obligations under the Public Records Act and the Louisiana Code of Governmental Ethics.
  • He reviews and asses compliance with Federal, State and local laws and regulations.

Mr. Capitelli is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Louisiana.
