Milling Benson Woodward L.L.P., is pleased to announce that R. King Milling has rejoined the Firm as of counsel in the New Orleans office. Mr. Milling served as President of Whitney National Bank and Whitney Holding Corporation from 1984 until April 2007 and as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors from April 2007 until December 2008. Prior to joining Whitney, he was a partner in the Firm.

A decade old lawsuit by a man who claims he was brutalized by St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies during a 2006 arrest was tossed out Thursday by U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier.

C. Randall Loewen and Chadwick W. Collings successfully defended Devon Energy Production Company, L.P., in a lawsuit brought by a former security guard for personal injuries allegedly sustained in a trip and fall. The case against Devon was dismissed on a summary judgment after the District Court found that the former security guard was a statutory employee of Devon. The Court of Appeal for the First Circuit subsequently affirmed the District Court’s decision.
